TMMW takes the Hungry Ghost Festival Online

In the thick of the pandemic, we couldn’t bear to see the boisterous Zhong Yuan festival (often known as Hungry Ghost festival) get muted by the Covid-19 restrictions. With the usual festivities such as getai and live performances being canceled, we thought that this charming tradition ought to have its own little corner on the cloud too.

With ZhongYuanFestival.sg, we produced a digital rendering of all things Zhong Yuan. Beyond educational content to demystify the often misunderstood festival, we also integrated live streams of getai and Chinese opera with the virtual getai and opera stages in the website.
