Changing the way we tell stories at Punggol Regional Library
Everybody has a story to tell. As Singapore’s largest and most inclusive library, we wanted to help Punggol Regional Library (PRL) become a platform for people from all walks of life to share and experience stories.
The result? Five experiential zones where technology, literature, and history reimagine storytelling for a new generation.
ZONE 1: COMMUNITY WALL
Fronting the entrance of PRL, the community wall features a sprawling mural of Punggol created by Iyn, an artist born and bred in Punggol. Digital screens feature public polls and interactive maps that encourage interaction within the library while generating content for passersby on the outside.

ZONE 2: STORYTELLER COVE
Designed to encourage children to create their own stories. The space is inspired by storybook landscapes but created in muted tones to create an inclusive environment for children of all needs.
In the middle of the cove is the Magical Library, a phygital bookshelves where storybook characters emerges when their books are tugged at.
ZONE 3: BOOK OF POSSIBILITIES
Designed for teens, a larger-than-life comic book invites readers into a story that travels across different genres. Interactive comic panels and a holographic peephole allows readers to become part of the story.
ZONE 4: LENS OF LITERATURE
On a touch table featuring the the best of Singapore literature, visitors also have a chance to create their own poems by curating their very own lines.
ZONE 5: SINGAPORIUM
Visitors explore the history of Punggol across an interactive timeline, artefact displays and a light installation that lights up in response to memories of Punggol's past.
